How-to keep your pet safe during Guy Fawkes night
Here at UKFireworks.com we love our furry friends and want to make sure they don’t get too frightened during the bonfire period.
There are several steps we can ALL take to ensure all animals are kept safe and to reduce the stress as much as possible.
For pet owners – here are some top tips from the RSPCA to help keep your pets safe:
– If possible, keep your pets indoors.
– Walk them during daylight hours to avoid times when fireworks are likely to be set off
– Close windows and curtains to muffle the sound of fireworks
– Put on some music or tv to mask the firework sounds
– Create a quiet space where your dog can feel in control, for the smaller furry animals give them plenty of bedding so they can burrow down.
– Create some hiding places around your home/ in the cage.
RSPCA have created a great video containing some top tips for keeping animals safe.
The RSPCA have also produced a handy guide with tips for the most common animals https://www.rspca.org.uk/webContent/staticImages/Infographics/FireworksInfographic2.png
If you are planning to set fireworks off:
– Consider using quieter fireworks in built up areas and always follow the safety distance information.
– Don’t let fireworks off outside the permitted times (they can be found here)
– Be courteous and let your neighbours know in advance that you are planning to set some fireworks off. (especially if they have pets or young children.)
– Make sure you stay safe by following the firework code
We want everyone to enjoy the tradition of setting off fireworks, but let’s make an effort to be courteous to our neighbours and pets and so that we can all enjoy the celebration.
